Ready. . . Set. . . Go! 2007 race season gets green flag.
Imperial, PA - Saturday, April 21, 2007 - Following weeks of anticipation, tonight marked the first installment of the 2007 race season at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. It was also the first run of the year for driver Nick Kocuba and the RebelYell Motorsports #10 Pure Stock.
Coming off a career best finish of 6th in overall points, Kocuba and the RebelYell team were anxious for this year’s competition to get underway. However, anxiousness soon gave way to frustration when just four laps into his heat race Kocuba’s rear brakes locked forcing him into the pits. Down, but never out, the team’s resourceful crew was able to get the car back in working order and out on the track in time for the class’s featured race.
As luck would have it, an inverted line-up positioned Kocuba on the pole for the start of the feature. From there, he led the pack for two laps until an untimely accident brought out the caution and restart. This turn of events, coupled with the existing brake problem, proved challenging for the #10 Pure Stock which went on to finish a respectable 7th.
