Racing Rebels Another good week for Nick Kocuba and Crew
Imperial, PA - Saturday, May 12, 2007 - Just as the breeze began to pick up inside the confines of Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway so did the night's racing action. And while windy conditions may have wreaked havoc for some, Nick Kocuba and the RebelYell team seemed to be flying high this 3rd week of competition.
Thanks to a fortunate pill draw, Kocuba started on the pole for the Sunoco Race Fuels Pure Stock's one and only heat race of the night. With the wave of the green flag, he and the #10 Pure Stock took off at break-neck pace, solidifying the lead position for the majority of the race. Unfortunately the engine began breaking up, which opened the door for Joe Anthony in his 69X to take the lead down the back straight-away with just 2 laps to go. Kocuba would have to settle for a 2nd place finish.
During the feature, Kocuba began in the 6th postion, but quickley began his climb towards the front of the field. This ascension came to an abrupt pause when the red flag was displayed for a jaw-dropping accident along the front stretch wall involving the Jake Simmons in the 68X and Danny Rich driving the X car that evening. When the racing resumed, Kocuba would go on to finish 4th, missing 3rd place by just inches!
For those who would like to see more of Kocuba and the #10 RebelYell Motorsports Monte Carlo, be sure to stop by Kennywood Park's annual Motorsports Day on Sunday May 20th, sponsored by the Pittsburgh Circle Track Club. It is a "special price" day at Kennywood, and ride all day admission is only $15.
